Prof. Ulla Gro Nielsen

Ulla Gro Nielsen is Professor of environmental physical chemistry at the University of Southern Denmark. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Aarhus in 2002, which was followed by postdoctoral positions at UC Berkeley (2003-2004) and Stony Brook University (2004-2007). She started her research group at the University of Southern Denmark in 2007. She is a physical chemist by training and work on the interface between materials and environmental science. Her research aims to link the chemical structure of materials with their macroscopic properties and understand environmental processes, which is achieved by combining solid state NMR spectroscopy with other experimental techniques. Her current research focusses on the development of solid-state NMR spectroscopy of paramagnetic materials, quantum materials, phosphate recovery and remediation as well as the properties of layered double hydroxides
